For the second part, we'll transition back from the Capitol to a networking lunch with advocates and legislators, where we’ll hear from our Keynote Speaker, Judge Steven Leifman (Miami-Dade County, Florida). Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This could be a little girl in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia. If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch! The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people.https://www.vitalant.org/

Dear Conifer High School Community,
We are excited to inform you about a unique opportunity for your child to participate in Peace Day. This school wide event is February 2, 2024. The Conifer Peer Counselors are in their eighth year of providing this event to the Conifer student body and staff. This day will be a closed campus.
Peace Day is a celebration of valuing the human experience. Conifer High School’s Peace Day mission is for students to seek to build bridges of understanding and connection between people of all walks of life. We aspire to strengthen our school community by recognizing the common humanity that unites us all.
Students will engage in a variety of activities and workshops ranging from educational events, cultural exchanges, and a wide variety of workshops from many different backgrounds. Students will choose 3 different workshops of their choice from 35 offerings on Friday, December 8th.
I have intentionally prioritized this day to allow participation by our entire student body. We have built the content to include representation from all walks of life and backgrounds. Please follow THIS LINK to see the true measure of diversity that students can choose from. I encourage you to talk to your students about which seminars they choose to attend. Selections will be made during LAB on Friday, December 8th.
I believe that exposing students to a diverse range of topics is crucial in helping them discover their interests and passions. By participating in Peace Day, your child will not only expand their knowledge but also develop a broader perspective on the possibilities that lie ahead.
The planning of this event starts a year in advance in order to secure speakers, plan and organize. To ensure the success of this event, it is imperative that your student attend school on Peace Day. We look forward to a successful and enriching Peace Day, providing our students with valuable insights into our world.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Greg Manier
Principal

The theme is - Change the Course: Early Detection For Pancreatic Cancer.
*Why pancreatic cancer is notoriously difficult to detect at an early stage of the disease, and why progress on a standard screening tool has been slow compared to other cancers.
* How advances in artificial intelligence and imaging technology stand to impact how cancer is detected and diagnosed.
Early detection can be the critical difference in one’s survival.
