Mrs. Colorado 2018
Hello, I am Lauren Campbell, your Mrs. Colorado 2018! I am an optimist, a believer, a doer and a dreamer. I’ve been married for 10 years to a man who helps make all my dreams come true. I am a working mommy to two beautiful, smart, passionate little boys: Hayden, age eight, and Grayson, age five.
I come from a diverse mix of cultures: Spanish, American-Indian, Mexican, French and Norwegian all go into this third-generation Colorado girl. I come from a super close-knit family of three sisters and one brother. My sisters are my rocks; my brother was my hero. I am the oldest, and growing up, we moved around a lot: 11 schools and three states in nine years—suffice it to say I was always the “new girl” (an understatement!) We lost my brother Nicholas to cancer at age 20. He was an amazing human, and although he was younger than me, I learned so much from him: humility, grace and compassion.
The loss of my brother completely changed my life’s direction—to be better than I was, to give more and to affect this world in a positive way. When I am gone, no one will remember the crowns I have won, but I hope the children and students I work with will remember that I listened to them, made them feel valued and maybe even inspired them in some small way. “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” (Maya Angelou).
I like to live each day to the fullest. When I have free time you can find me in kickboxing classes with friends, bike riding with my family and enjoying live music with my hubby. Fun fact: Though I enjoy the outdoors, I may be the only Coloradan who does not ski—yet.
